This team is based in Chicago, Illinois. It is one of the oldest teams in the NHL. It was founded in 1926, while the National Hockey League was founded in 1917. It belongs to the Western Conference, Central Division. Definitely, a team from such a big city has millions of fans in the United States and the rest of the world. They all have high hopes for this team. However, the past history of “Blackhawks” does not have too many Stanley Cup victories. The team won the main title 3 times. The last one was dated to the 1960-1961 season. Later, Chicago did not know the pleasure of such a victory.

However, everything has changed since 2008, when Joel Quenneville was named the team’s new coach. He, in collaboration with general manager Stan Bowmen and other coaches, led the Blackhawks to an incredible record for modern hockey. The team won 3 more Cups over the course of about 6 years!

Such an achievement was not a surprise in the past. However, compared to earlier times, we now have a lot of teams that are pretty much the same. Therefore, even a degree in 10 years can mean real success.

When talking about Chicago before the Bowmen and Quenneville era, the results were horrible. The last time the team reached the play-off stage was in the 2001-2002 season. However, after the changes in coaching things, the team experienced a true renaissance.

The coach factor did a lot. Quenneville’s innovations produced splendid results. Thanks to Bowmen’s excellent selective work, the team obtained young and prospective players, as well as experienced players. Rookies Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews became true world-class leaders, leading their national teams. However, they became true stars of Chicago.

In a strong collaboration of coaches and players, the Illinois team set a novice record in modern hockey and it can be called a true “miracle on ice.” It can be compared to that incredible United States Olympic hockey team that won gold medals in 1980. That was a true miracle, because a team of teenagers from different universities and colleges conquered the experienced monsters of world hockey.

The Blackhawks did something similar. The first success of his “hat-trick” came in the 2009-2010 season. It took Quenneville only 3 seasons to reach his first trophy. Subsequently, the United Center team (the team’s main stadium) was taken seriously by opponents. However, opponents were unable to stop the Hawks in the 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 seasons.

With respect to modern trends in American hockey, such success is almost impossible. However, the Chicago boys made it quite possible. How could it happen? Some would say that this is a long and hard job for each member of the team. Others would say that it is pure luck. However, the case of “luck” would hardly work three times in six years. Both thoughts should probably be united.

It’s fair enough that the Blackhawks have achieved such success. Many players on the team have already won multiple personal awards for regular seasons and play-off matches. Stan Bowmen is probably the best general manager of the last decade. The genius of Joel Quenneville speaks for itself. Chicago regularly reaches the play-off stage, has already won 3 Stanley Cups and shows impressive hockey every season. Not surprisingly, he was included in the technical team for the upcoming Canadian Cup, which is the most prestigious hockey tournament of all time.

During the past season, the Blackhawks failed to win the Cup. However, on average, they win this trophy once every two years. Consequently, the new 2016-2017 season is likely to be another successful year for them. Thus, we can speak of a novel record of 4 wins in 8 years.
