The profession of a healthcare physician assistant holds great prospects and rewards for those who want to help others who suffer on a daily basis. Of course, you’ll need to complete the necessary education before you can start looking for PA jobs anywhere in the country. This is one of the top healthcare professions right now in 2011, and it will be in high demand for years to come. The job description is actually in the title.

A PA is someone who assists the doctor or surgeon, and is responsible for providing health care services while under the supervision of a doctor. This healthcare career has many different job opportunities and we need to make sure we don’t confuse a PA with a Physician Assistant. Medical assistants are responsible for performing clinical and administrative tasks. A PA may perform diagnostic health care services, therapeutic services, and preventive health care services.

All of these services that they provide to patients are supervised by a doctor. The titles held by other healthcare workers are no more comprehensive than the titles a Physician Assistant must earn. This is because PAs have more responsibilities than other technicians and assistants found in the health care industry. A PA may perform tasks such as taking a patient’s medical history, may perform patient examinations and order treatment for patients, may order laboratory and X-ray tests and interpret the results of those tests, may diagnose, and in some states may write prescriptions for patients.

PAs may also be responsible for making sutures, splints, and casts. PAs will also be required to treat patients in a courteous and pleasant manner. Career information for this job will differ from state to state, due to the fact that there are some PAs that have clerical roles. You will need to attend a PA school and you will need to take a national board certification exam before you can even start working as a PA in the United States.

After you pass your certification, get your state license and you can start working. So if this is your chosen career path in the healthcare field, then you have made a great decision. There are many physician assistant jobs across the country right now, and there are many things to experience in this career.
