When looking for the best summer vacation, you need to consider the nature of your trip. Is it a family getaway? A romantic trip for two? Or maybe a fun vacation with friends? The Greek islands are the perfect choice, no matter what your plans are – each island offers something special to meet your expectations.

I highly recommend Corfu, if you are planning a relaxing holiday, with your family. Corfu is a beautiful green island located in the Ionian Sea. There are many interesting historical places to visit during your holidays, for example Achilleion, a beautiful palace built by Empress Elizabeth of Austria, also known as Sisi; old and new fortresses in Corfu town, and much more. Visiting these places while on vacation can be interesting and educational for you and your family.

Corfu is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches like Avlaki (pictured), Paleokastritsa; Glyfada, Agios Gregorios and Kouloura. Families can enjoy many water sports such as sailing, paragliding, waterskiing, and fishing. All available activities are well prepared and offered to a very high standard.

There are a variety of hotels in Corfu to suit everyone’s budget, however, rush for the cheapest deals as they sell out quickly.

Lefkada, Skiathos and Ikaria offer similar standards and activities to Corfu.

The ideal place for romantic trips, a honeymoon or a trip for two, is Crete. Located in the Aegean Sea, Crete is the largest of the Greek islands. Famous for its breathtaking views, delicious food, and incredible hospitality; Crete offers everything you need to create a romantic moment with your loved one. Crete offers a variety of hotels, from small, romantic and family-friendly to larger and more luxurious – the choice is yours.

One of the most popular places in Crete to spend your holidays is Chania Village, with its beautiful promenade, perfect for night walks; picturesque harbor and romantic cafes by candlelight.

Crete is also rich in culture and history. Ruins of the Minoan palace of Knossos (dated between 2000 and 1400 BC); The Palace of Phaestos or the Cathedral of Agios Minas in Heraklion are jewels of ancient architecture that are definitely worth visiting during your holidays in Crete.

However, if you are a nature lover, a good place to visit is Samaria Gorge (the largest gorge in Europe) which offers unforgettable views. Home to 150 species of fruit trees, herbs and wildflowers, Botanical Park & Gardens at the foot of the White Mountains is another perfect place to spend time and relax.

Zakhintos or Skopelos are romantic islands, with similar standards to those offered by Crete.

Planning a fun trip with friends? Choose Mykonos or Paros! These islands are located in the Mediterranean Sea and are famous for their nightlife, nightclubs and discos. The streets begin to fill with people around 11 at night and the party continues until the morning. Crazy times are guaranteed in Mykonos and Paros!

Attention! Accommodation on these islands can be quite expensive and it is difficult, if not impossible, to find a cheaper option.
