I sometimes get emails from people asking me about the Nutrisystem family plan. They want to know how it works, how much it costs, and what are some of its advantages. I will go over these issues in the next article.

The family plan is designed so that you can diet at the same time as others in your household. The idea is that they can support each other and experience the process together. I think this is a great idea because I have always found it helpful to diet and lose weight with someone close to me. That way, you’re not only held accountable, but you also have a built-in support system from someone who probably knows you better than anyone.

It seems to me that most of the people who benefit from the family plan are married. However, this is not a requirement. You just need to have the same address as the person who will be on the family plan with you. This could cover any number of relationships from roommates, friends, romantic relationships, siblings living under the same roof as you, etc.

You get a discount for joining, as well as support for people on this joint plan. Here’s the logistics of how it works. One person will place their corresponding order. Let’s use a scenario where a husband and wife apply for the family plan for the first time. The wife would make the initial order. She could order any menu plan (eg Women’s Basic, Women’s Diabetic, Women’s Flexible, Women’s Select, and Vegetarian). The only thing different in the order process is connecting the two accounts.

Once the wife placed her order, she would notice a little message asking if she wanted to connect another order for a family plan. All she has to do is accept and then proceed to place her husband’s order. Like his wife, the husband can choose whatever package he wants (although he would order his package from the men’s menu instead of the women’s menu). He doesn’t have to choose the same as his wife and can also customize the package for him. as he sees fit.

Most of the time they offer you the incentive of a money discount on one of the orders for being part of the family plan. Often, it’s $50 off. They let you pay separately if you want. And they ship your orders separately so things don’t get confusing when you’re trying to figure out who gets what food. I imagine it would be much easier to give each person their own shelf in the pantry so they don’t get mixed up. You can also take advantage of individual counselling. Their accounts are essentially connected, allowing them to get the discount and support each other, but Nutrisystem treats them as individuals when it comes to shipping and support.
