The 6-Week Body Makeover Eating Plan is divided into five different body types. This article will focus on the “D” body type, as the eating plan is quite unique to this body. D people are allowed to eat more red meat. The other body types can only eat lean protein and shellfish. The reason D bodies can eat beef is because red meat actually helps build the muscles for this specific body type.

People classified as “D” body types have a very slow metabolism and a lack of muscle mass. This deals a double whammy when it comes to losing fat. Muscle is what burns fat, and the leaner you are, the more calories you burn throughout the day. This is similar to Atkin’s approach, however this meal plan is less restrictive when it comes to the type of carbohydrates you can consume. First of all, if you are a D, you should not eat sweet fruits, sugar, and white breads. Complex carbohydrates are good for these body types (in moderation). Some complex carbohydrates that are included in the meal plan are potatoes, squash, and low-sugar fruits like grapefruit.

A sample meal of Michael Thurmond’s diet for a body type D is a grilled New York steak, garlic roasted potatoes, and a green salad. A sample breakfast would be 4 oz. egg whites and 1 cup of oatmeal or steak and egg whites. The eggs can be scrambled with chopped tomatoes and basil. You can use a lean sirloin and add roasted Maui onions for flavor.
