Removing dandruff, which results from dead skin tissue, appears to be an impossible task. When dandruff affects you, your scalp hurts and you feel like scrubbing your scalp at all times. There are a myriad of causes of dandruff, including using the wrong shampoo, washing your hair too often, rinsing it, mostly with water, and many more.

There are also some skin problems that cause dandruff. The most common is seborrheic dermatitis: the causes can be internal or external. Dandruff is also perceived to be caused by dry and cold weather.

These are some of the causes of dandruff.

1. Consume a diet lacking in vitamins on consecutive days. Vitamins help in the growth of tissues. If you consistently eat a meal that is lacking in vitamins and minerals that help build tissue, it can lead to scalp weakness. The tissue of your scalp becomes weaker and softer and eventually dies. You must eat foods rich in all nutrients so that you can eliminate dandruff and avoid health problems.

2. Blow drying can also cause dandruff. When you blow-dry your hair consistently, it dries your skin and thus triggers the yeast reaction in your skin. There is a type of yeast on your skin called Malassezia. When the skin is dry, it reacts by causing dandruff in the hair.

3. Hormones can also be the reason many people have dandruff. This is common to both sexes, but especially to men. Dandruff usually begins at or after puberty.

4. Using the wrong shampoo to wash your hair. The products we use to make our hair have chemicals that react with the skin causing dandruff. Chemicals also affect natural hair growth and the normal shine of your hair. When you buy hair care products, it is important that you look at the chemicals in the products. Understand your skin’s reaction to different chemicals and be sure to avoid any products with these chemicals.

5. Exposure to harsh weather conditions, such as cold and dry weather conditions, can be a cause of dandruff. The reaction of yeast on the skin is more accelerated, and this could be the reason why many people are affected by dandruff in the winter season.

6. Not brushing your hair regularly can increase dandruff infection on the scalp. This is because the dead tissues on your skin cannot shed properly.

Treatment to eliminate dandruff

When you have realized that you have dandruff, you need to look for ways to treat the disease. There are ways to treat dandruff when it has not reached a critical stage. Some of the ways include;

• Use antifungal shampoos to wash your hair. This will help fight yeast, which is one of the main causes of dandruff.

• Take lots of vitamins and minerals that help strengthen tissues.

• Wash your scalp with Nizoral or Ciclopirox shampoo every day. Avoid hair care products that can cause skin irritations.

• Stop being out in the cold and dry season. Wear protective clothing that keeps your air in good condition.

• Use antibacterial cleansers – Antibacterial cleansers like sulfacetamide reduce bacterial infections on the skin.

While trying to get rid of dandruff, you should also follow a healthy diet. Vegetables and fruits should be added to the diet. You also need to drink plenty of fluids. Clean, healthy hair reflects beauty and also keeps the scalp free from infection.
