I recently had the privilege of visiting Wild Rose Yoga, located in the magical yoga travel spot of Chiang Mai, Thailand. This charming studio serves as a haven for traveling yogis on pilgrimage to this Southeast Asian paradise. While not a yoga travel center in the semantic sense, the studio offers many trainings and special events in addition to its regular class schedule. If you are planning a trip to Thailand, be sure to visit it. Wild Rose will make you feel right at home, making it easy to fall in love with Chiang Mai and extremely difficult to leave.

Chiang Mai is an incredible city that must be experienced first hand to fully understand its inner layers of beauty. Located in the north of Thailand, the city is a charming alternative to the concrete chaos of its big brother, Bangkok, to the south. Chiang Mai’s Old Town (where Wild Rose is located) is known for its laid-back atmosphere with its multitude of vegetarian and organic restaurants, quaint cafes and laid-back bars. Situated in a tropical mountainous environment, the landscape surrounding the city features ancient temples, organic coffee farms, waterfalls and elephant parks.

The way of life in Chiang Mai is calm and simple, as reflected in the smiling faces and warmth of its locals and visitors alike. Chiang Mai’s friendliness is contagious. You will quickly find yourself making new friends every day. In Chiang Mai, just being around another person is reason enough to start a conversation and make a new friend. This gregarious warmth extends to Wild Rose Yoga as well.

Arriving at the studio for the first time, I was greeted by Rosemary Bolivar, the owner of Wild Rose, who welcomed me and gave me the grand tour. The studio itself is nothing short of spectacular. A dark wood base gives a cozy, rustic feel to the space. I had the chance to experience our asana practice during a monsoon rain which had a calming effect by transforming the studio into an elemental retreat. Wild Rose also has a sauna that offers weekly “Steam and Beam” sessions where clients can indulge in herbal scrubs and masks after an invigorating yoga class.

I highly recommend Wild Rose Yoga in Chiang Mai for any yoga travel enthusiast. Stay up to date with upcoming events and guest teachers on the Wild Rose Facebook page, globally connecting travel yoga enthusiasts who have visited this great studio.
