Los Gigantes, known as Los Acantilados de los Gigantes, is located on the western coast of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. This incredible complex is located in a rocky cove on the Atlantic Sea.

Known for its unique vertical cliffs that rise more than 750 meters above sea level, Los Gigantes is an excellent base for holidays in the Canary Islands. At the foot of the cliffs is the resort’s small black volcanic sand beach, ideal for families with children, as it does not get crowded. The largest Blue Flag beach, Playa de la Arena, is just a couple of miles from Los Gigantes and is considered by many to be the best beach in the area. Next to the beach is the busy marina where expensive yachts mix with fishing boats. Here you can take a boat trip, which is probably the best way to see the incredible cliffs and spot dolphins and whales swimming in the Atlantic. In the marina you can also fish, sail and dive on the high seas. For a great family outing, take a trip on a restored galleon or marvel at the fantastic marine life on a glass bottom boat ride. For the more adventurous, the resort’s rocky terrain is perfect for mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking, and hiking. Because the sea is protected by the cliffs, here it is perfect for diving, especially from November to February, when the clear blue sea is beautiful and warm.

Los Gigantes has a pedestrian center with restaurants, bars and shops that are located around the old church. However, as the resort is built into the cliff, the steep, narrow streets leading from the promenade to the main town can offer quite a challenge.

Puerto Santiago is a modern and quiet complex that was once a small fishing village and is the closest complex to Los Gigantes. If you’re feeling energetic, you can stroll along the picturesque cliff to Puerto Santiago, which takes about half an hour and offers incredible views of the sea. Across the bay from Los Gigantes is the historic town of Garachico, which is well worth a visit during your family vacation. Almost destroyed by an earthquake, the city is home to the largest and oldest Dragon Tree in the Canary Islands. These trees are only found in the Canary Islands and are believed to have mystical powers and red sap (dragon blood) that was once used for healing and embalming.

For the perfect family vacation in Los Gigantes, look for the many vacation deals that are always available in the beautiful Canary Islands, you will not be disappointed.
