Blizzard Entertainment once again makes their loyal fans laugh with a joke that is epic in some ways and just plain funny in others. Taking advantage of the popularity of the Guitar Hero game, the creators of World of Warcraft decided to introduce a new hero class that will be available in the latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. This hero class does not use any physical objects to crush others, nor does he use dark magic spells to knock down his opponents. No. They use music. You heard me right! Blizzard Entertainment, as another of their April Fool’s jokes, has included the Bard Hero Class in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. I dare say the Bards are even tougher than the Dark Knights, when just by playing a riff on their guitar, they can exterminate their enemies! Here’s a closer look at this interesting and fun hero class.

General description:

The bards are the musicians of Azeroth who have decided to step up and sing songs about themselves and their achievements and not just about others. Vowed to stop evil, the Bards use the power of their music to defeat their enemies. Players can enter a battle as a Bard. An interface similar to the Guitar Hero interface will be used. Bard’s characters would make use of two-handled axes (which look like guitars) as their weapons of choice, from which their musical power would come. The Bard Hero class will also have its own resource system known as a “groove”. Bards can fight alone, performing solos that can lay waste to dozens, or as part of a group.

Who can become a bard?

Blizzard Entertainment hasn’t confirmed the rumor, but it seems that all races could be Bards.

What can bards do?

Bard Skills are divided into two: Metal and Punk Rock. Under Metal are the following sample skills:

*I’m Murloc-

a very powerful capacity for transformation.

*Epic Solo-

for every second of performing this ability, 10 slots are needed. This allows a Bard to play an epic solo song that would stun up to 10 enemies in a 20 meter radius around the Bard. Upon hearing the bard’s epic solo, enemies would “rock” and take 310-390 rock damage every second. Impressive, right?

* Axis of specialization –

this increases the Bard’s abilities in wielding his axe.

Here are some examples of the Bard Hero Class abilities in Punk Rock:

*Disagreement-

this special ability will deflect mind control, fear, or other similar spells that the enemy casts on the Bard.

*Mosh Pit-

a 50% increase over 10 seconds to the movement of all Bard’s allies. It also removes any spells that impair the Bard’s movements.

From the sounds of it, a lot of people are excited to try out the Bard Hero class. It looks fun, exciting and totally hilarious. To the creators and pranksters at Blizzard Entertainment, all I can say right now is “count me in”!
